Red Wines
Monte Soledad 2003 Spanish Blend $12.50/bottle; $5.50/glass Tempranillo and garnacha provide the Rioja standard blend; barbera provides fruitiness, and cabernet rounds out the body. Nose: subtle anaïs. Palate: black cherries and dried apples with notes of warm spice and dark chocolate in the finish.
2007 Cabernet/Syrah Blend $15/bottle; $6/glass
Aromas of black cherry and licorice carry through to a palate of ripe blackberries and blueberries in this medium bodied wine. San Diego County grapes.
Cabrillo 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon $20/bottle; $7/glass
A very raspberry fruit forward cab. Drinkable now, but the ample tannins, good acid, and high fruitiness make this a good aging wine, with optimal drinking through 2020.
The 80/20 Rule 2005 Cab/Merlot Blend $20/bottle; $7/glass Similar to the Cabrillo 2005 Cab, but the addition of 20% Merlot smoothes the tannins and dials down the raspberry fruit. A “light” version of the Cabrillo.
2007 Dry Creek Sonoma County Merlot $25/bottle; $8.50/glass
Aged 36 months in French Oak, this rich wine is velvety smooth, with hints of cherry and vanilla on the palate.
Ranchero 2001 Cabernet/Nebbiolo Blend $25/bottle; $8.50/glass
The full tannins found in both Nebbiolo and Cabernet grapes give this wine a full body and deep, dark color. Goes well with hearty red meats, especially straight-forward roasted and barbecued beef.
Solana 2005 Syrah $15/bottle; $6/glass
Growing well in the South Coast region, the local terroir gives our syrah a slightly more “masculine” character of strong flavor and very prevalent white pepper palate.
Red Demption (NV) $20/bottle; $7/glass
An eclectic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Merlot and Petite Syrah grapes from four different growing regions and four different vintages.
Old Coach "Pri Mo" (Our Guest Winery) $18.50/bottle; $6.50/glass
Light bodied with a sassy finish, this outside-the-box combo of a melodic MOurvedre (80%) sings with the support of its good friend the PRImitivo (20%).
Tawny Port $18.50/bottle (375 ml); $5/glass (2 oz)
Flavors include chocolate and raisins: think Raisinets, but with a kick. The sherry component (a requisite for tawny port) gives a nutty flavor as well. Aged in American Oak for eight years.
